Category: !CL Candidates
Hey zoners! What an exciting time; We get to practice democracy on this wonderful site of ours!
As a candidate for Community Leader, I'd like to introduce myself to you and tell you a little about why I would love to be chosen as your new CL.
I'm Bernadetta, AKA write away, and I've been a member of the Zone for about four years now.
During the first two years or so, I was not very active on here, but lately I frequent this site; Being on here has become one of my favorite passtimes.
The zone has been called many things, but I feel that above all, it is a unique and diverse community--A one of a kind place on the web that brings people of every creed, ethnicity and geographical location together. I would be delighted to give back to the community where I have forged many meaningful friendships, participated in interesting discussions, and excersized my brain with Anagrams.
I possess many qualities that would make me a productive, compassionate and well-liked CL. I actually love to help people with problems without placing blame or judgement; I have taken mediation and conflict resolution classes in order to complete my Bachelor's degree; This will more than likely allow me to resolve any conflicts or issues that may arise with empathy and diplomacy.
I have ideas galore on how we can improve this site, make it an even more exciting experience for all of us, and while I recognize that CL's have limits on what they can do, i believe I can communicate with the admins in such a way that might compell them into action. Of course, your ideas and suggestions are also welcome. If you'd like to see a change happen, let me know about it and I promise to look into it and make it happen to the best of my ability.
One of my ideas for general improvement, for instance is to clean up the boards. If I am chosen as a CL, I volunteer myself to perform the tedious task of organizing the boards, merging duplicate topics, and organizing everything to make searching for specifics a painless task. Of course, I will only do so with a go-ahead from the community at large.
When I look at the list of candidates for this position, I can think of several people other than myself who would do a superb job in this position. That being said, here's what I think sets me apart.
I have worked in customer service in the past, so I know how to work with all of you and help you whenever you need anything. If you come to me with a question and I can't answer it off the top of my head, for example, I'll search for the correct answer on your behalf instead of redirecting you to someone else because I know how annoying it could be to get the old go-around when all you want is an accurate answer.
I'm a self-taught computer user, proficient in both mac and windows, and I am a very fast learner regarding all things technology-related.
Becoming a CL means that a user gains access to certain classified information; I am aware of this, and am adamant about not using any of it to my own advantage or the disadvantage of others. Playing favorites is not the way I roll; I treat everyone, be it friend or foe with fairness and understanding.
I won't ban anyone without fair warning and only as a last resort. Banning should only be reserved for when the terms of service have been violated, and the same applies for board posts.
I want what's best for all of us, and I encourage all of you to get to know me, not only as a potential CL but as a potential friend.
So feel free to say hi, ask whatever you like, and don't forget to vote write away for your new Community leader
Peace!!!
